  • President Macbeth

What's good about House of Cards is that it never tries to hide what it is: an American Gothic Macbeth for the 21st century. Its evil genius is the way it actually makes you root, especially in season 2, for the thoroughly despicable Underwoods. Watching them claw their way (sometimes literally) to the top is horrifying fun. But that arc is complete by the end of season 2. Watching Frank Underwood in season 3 cling to the power he craved is not nearly as compelling. Also, the show was always hampered -- as so many tv series are these days -- with way too many side characters and subplots about whom it's very hard to care. When one of those characters is periodically dispensed with, one feels relief that they're gone more than satisfaction at their well-turned sub-arc. In sum: Season 1 took a long time to get cranked up, and was really prologue for Season 2, the show's peak. Season 3 feels like a long anticlimax, and didn't leave me champing at the bit for Season 4.

Season 3 is lacking in a true interesting plot, it needs to get back to the basics. It has too much fighting among Claire and Frank. Keep revealing the true face of the dirty, evil politics in America, under the Democrats.
  • Awesome series

This must be some of Kevin Spacy's best acting. He is so good at being this monster of a nasty politician. The script writing is so great also. Fundamentally it borrows from other series like Breaking Bad, in that you can't help but root for this nasty guy Frank Underwood, just like one always rooted for the Walter in Breaking Bad, even though he was soo bad and evil. Obviously the context and story are soo different. Robin Wright also gives an incredible performance as Claire underwood. But, where is the 4th season?? it is out on netflix, I want to get it here!

Pretty boring season; serves mainly as a setup for the next season as it doesn’t stand well on its own
  • A masterpiece

House of Cards is so good, it is difficult writing a review that risks omitting hundreds of genius elements. For that reason, let me say simply, "House of Cards is brilliant and I hope you enjoy the series as much as I do."

Buy it TV at its best! if you like sick twisted dark intelligent humor portrayed in a realistic life politics story this is for you! And probably not to far off from the real thing in Washington.
